Google Family Link For Android

Google's Family Link parental controls app is worth a shot. The Family Link app allows you to create digital ground rules remotely from your own device to help guide your children while they study, play, and explore online, whether they are young or in their teens. Family Link also lets you create a Google Account for your child that is similar to yours, with access to most Google services, if they are under the age of 13 (or the legal age of consent in your country).

You can use Family Link parental controls to:

Point them in the direction of useful information.

• Check out their app usage - Not all screen time is created equal. With activity reports revealing how much time your child spends on their favourite applications, you can help them make good decisions about what they do on their Android device. You can view reports on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis.

• Manage their apps - You may accept or deny apps your child wants to download from the Google Play Store using handy notifications. You may also control in-app purchases and hide certain apps on their device from your own device.

• Inspire their curiosity - It might be difficult to know which applications are appropriate for your child, so Family Link provides a list of teacher-recommended Android apps that you can download directly to their device.

Keep an eye on how much time you spend in front of the screen.

• Set limitations - You must determine the appropriate quantity of screen time for your youngster. To help them discover a suitable balance, Family Link allows you to establish time limits and a bedtime for their supervised devices.

• Lock their device - Whether it's time to go outside and play, have supper, or just spend time together, you may remotely lock a monitored device whenever you choose.

Look to see where they are.

• Being able to locate your child when they're out and about is beneficial. As long as they're carrying their Android handset, you can utilise Family Link to locate them.

Important Reminders

• The features of Family Link differ depending on your child's device. At families.google.com/familylink/setup, you may find a list of supported devices.

• While Family Link can help you monitor your child's Google Play purchases and downloads, they won't require your permission to install app updates (including permissions-expanding updates), applications you've already approved, or apps you've shared in Family Library. Parents should check their child's installed apps and app permissions in Family Link on a frequent basis.

• Review the apps on your monitored smartphone with your child and disable any that you don't want them to use. It's worth noting that some pre-installed programmes may not be able to be disabled.

• Your child's or teen's device must be turned on, recently active, and linked to the internet in order to track their whereabouts.

• Teacher-recommended apps are only available on Android devices in the US to parents of children of certain ages.

• While Family Link provides tools to manage your child’s online experience, it does not make the internet safe. Rather, it is intended to give parents choices about how their kids use the internet, and encourage conversations about internet use.
